Fangirlism is a horrible thing...

Well, if you do something for way to long, you get addicted to it. Then it creates what is called a 'Fan'. Now there are all kinds of fans, but for the sake of conveniance, we'll separate them into two categories (FanBoy, FanGirl), and the subcategories (casual fan, intermediate fan, and obsessive fan).
Fan Boys don't usually get to the obsessive stage, but when they do, they aren't as life threatening as the females. You'll usually find these in a comic book store (usually owning them if they're really into it), or in thier mother's basement arguing about the damage and defence points on an overpriced in-game sword. Most of them are either casual or intermediate, and are rather hard to point out. Until you get them to talk about thier favorite subject. WARNING: Stay the fuck away from FPS fans! They will PWN you so badly that your great grandaddy's left testicle will fall off!
Now Fangirls...they are notoriously the worst and most dangerous, especially at the obsessive stage. Casual fangirls are much like the boys: They might make obscure referances and wear the occaisional fan shirt, but nothing more. Intermediate fangirls are where it starts getting dangerous. They most likely have started a vague bishie list, and are probably planning on cosplaying thier favorite character for halloween. In the later stages, they start writing fanfiction, draw comics, and will verbally maim anyone who disses thier favorite character. They've already started planning thier own fannon, and have probably already come up with thier own fan thoeries (they really start getting ridiculous as the obsession grows)
Now when they get obsessive...It's best to keep a good supply of thier favorite novelty snack, or a plushie of a chibi character to distract them with while you run for your life. This is where the character abuse starts setting in. Talented fangirls will turn everyone into a super-cute chibiform, and will quote thier favorite character every other sentence. They will laugh hysterically at the most innapropriate times, and japan centered fangirls will often randomly 'Caramell Dance', or more recently, attempt to 'Get Down' without the aid of film editing. It is very rare that males will participate, but they sometimes do. The character abuse is at it's peak at this stage: Unlikely pairings, sometimes homosexual, chibi forms, character rape, character distortion, and putting them in seemingly hilarious situations, but they end up as rather torturous for the character. At this point, they have also come up with thier own fancharacter, and have claimed themselves as an entirely different species or class. At the highest stage, they constantly see the world through fan-goggles or in chibi-vision, and end up in therapy, or the crazy house.
I myself am just crossing the border of obsessive on most of my fandoms, but am still able to function as a normal teenage hermit.
These are all of the things that I've dedicated over a year of my life immersed in thier worlds. Who knows, maybe you'll get sucked in as well?
